Ice racing experience at Flaine: winter 2027 in a historic single-seater

November 1, 2026

Our last driving courses of 2026 wrapped up in early October at the Circuit de Charade. Now it is winter’s turn: in January 2027, Classic Racing School returns to the Flaine ice circuit, in the French Alps, for an ice driving course behind the wheel of a genuine historic single-seater.

2026 is done, all eyes on 2027

On 2 and 3 October, our Crosslé cars completed their final laps of the 2026 season at Charade. Thank you to everyone who took the wheel with us this year. The whole team is now focused on 2027, and the season opens on snow.

Because the urge to drive does not stop in autumn. When the circuits close for winter, we head up to 1,600 metres for an experience you will not find anywhere else: ice driving in a 1960s single-seater.

Ice driving: the art of finesse

Why drive on ice?

On ice, grip disappears and every input counts twice. Weight transfer, braking, steering precision, reading the surface: ice driving forces you to anticipate everything. It is the perfect way to build feel and smoothness, skills you will take back to the tarmac.

Great names such as Alain Prost and Sébastien Loeb made their mark on ice. The discipline has shaped generations of drivers and remains one of the best schools of car control there is.

A historic single-seater on ice: a rare experience

Most ice driving courses use road cars. At Classic Racing School, you drive a Crosslé 90F, a single-seater rebuilt in a run of 13 at the original factory, based on the first Formula Ford produced by Crosslé in 1969. Ford engine, 420 kg, 4-speed manual gearbox, no driver aids and studded tyres: sliding becomes an art.

The Flaine ice circuit, in the heart of the Alps

Set in the Grand Massif ski area, the Lac de Flaine circuit lies on a glacial plain below the lake. Temperatures range from 0 to -30 °C, guaranteeing exceptional ice quality all winter long.

  • More than 25,000 m² of ice
  • A 1,100 to 1,700 metre layout depending on the configuration
  • A track width of 8 to 20 metres
  • Breathtaking snow-capped peaks all around

Its layout combines natural terrain and open lines, designed to help every driver progress, from complete beginners to experienced enthusiasts.
