Nearly ten years after the creation of the Classic Racing School—the world’s first racing school dedicated to historic single-seaters—the project enters a new phase. Founded by Julien Chaffard, the school now launches its own one-make championship: the Vintage Club Series.
“Taking a real race start is the dream of many amateur drivers,” explains Julien Chaffard. “After years of training and coaching, it felt natural to offer them the opportunity to compete in a championship that fully reflects the spirit of the school.”
Developed in close collaboration with the FFSA (French Motorsport Federation) and Northern Irish manufacturer Crosslé, the championship will feature a brand-new car: the Crosslé 92F, recently homologated and purpose-built for the Vintage Club Series.
“Our goal was to create a championship where sporting fairness, driving enjoyment and authenticity matter more than outright performance,” continues Julien. “Drivers must benefit from top-level track conditions and professional coaching, within a true turnkey package and the same mindset as the Classic Racing School.”

Race Weekend Format
The Vintage Club Series will run a two-day race format, designed to maximize track time, driver engagement and coaching support:
- Free Practice: 2 × 20 minutes – Circuit discovery, car setup, fine-tuning and reference building.
- Qualifying: 2 × 15 minutes – Timed sessions determining the starting grid.
- Races: 4 × 20 minutes – Sprint-format racing across four races for maximum driving time.
- Driver Sharing: Two-driver entry – Cost and seat-time sharing between friends or partners.
A Symbolic Opening Event
Born from a long-standing friendship between Julien Chaffard and Vincent Beltoise, the first official Vintage Club Series event will take place on 9–10 October 2026 at Nevers Magny-Cours, alongside the Caterham Cup.
A fitting full circle, as the championship’s prologue and initial test sessions were held under similar conditions two years earlier. The 2027 calendar is currently under development, with a target of 6 to 7 race weekends.
The single-seater: Crosslé 92F
- Ford Zetec 1.8L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine – 130 hp
- Weber 32/36 DGV carburetor
- 4-speed manual gearbox
- Brazed steel tubular chassis, MSA-homologated
- Weight: 430 kg
- No driving assistance
Hand-built in Crosslé’s workshops in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the first cars will be delivered during 2026.
“We are currently ready to produce around ten cars per year,” says Paul McMorann, Managing Director of Crosslé. “By 2027, we expect between 20 and 25 cars to be competing in the Vintage Club Series.”
Pricing & Turnkey Support
The Vintage Club Series stands out with a truly all-inclusive racing concept. The first step is the purchase of the car:
- Car price: from 60 000 € excl. VAT ((race weekends not included).
- Each owner commits to competing in a minimum of three events from 2027 onwards.
As with the Classic Racing School, which will offer cars for rental, owners will also be able to make unused seats available to other drivers, helping to offset running costs.
For up to 15 cars, the organization will provide a premium turnkey technical and sporting package, including:
- Full logistics: storage, transport and car preparation
- Technicalsupport: mechanical servicing, reliability, safety and spare parts
- Driver coaching: professional supervision with video and data analysis
To ensure full budget transparency, the championship operates on a starting budget of €6,500 excl. VAT per race weekend, covering entry fees, logistics, maintenance, consumables including tyres and coaching (excluding damage and racing incidents).
